DANNY SIMMONS
DRAWS CROWDS TO SUGAR HILL ART CENTER
 |
| Lorenzo Pace was one of the many
artists that showed up for Danny Simmons’ A Conversation, gala
opening at Harlem’s Sugar Hill Art Center. It was, by far, the
largest gathering to the newly opened galleries.

Harlem was the scene of one of the
largest art openings in some time, as the newly opened Sugar Hill Art
Center showed their first Black artist, Danny Simmons. The center which
opened late last summer, had been showing top European and Israeli
artists. The center features several galleries and is the idea of Donald
Weiss, the landlord of the multi-gallery center. The Washington Heights
area was aghast, as limos pulled up with fabulous guys and dolls somewhat
reminiscent of Harlem’s heyday, the Harlem Renaissance. |
